Coloring eggs

We colored Easter eggs on Saturday. Zander had a blast. When we were done, Mana said, "okay, let's go dump the cups out." I started to head towards the kitchen and Mana said, "please tell me you've done this before!" and he headed downstairs...into the bathroom. He and Zander proceeded to dump the cups of egg dye in the toilet, laughed at the color combinations they made, flushed and repeated until they were all gone. I have 3 kids, I swear.

Zander's potty training progress

All hope is not lost. Last week, Zander started going #1 in the toilet consistently. Friday, he went at LCC 4 times and Saturday at home 4 times also. We started a potty chart with stickers. I think he likes being able to put them on chart himself. We stuck it on the downstairs bathroom wall at his height. He prefers using the downstairs bathroom. Not sure why. Hey, whatever works.

14 years!

I can't believe it...today is our 14 year anniversary of when we started dating! And to celebrate, we're going to a photography seminar tonight. It's called "Captivated By the Light" with Ed Pierce. Oh, and Tommy and Eric are also coming, so it's not really a date.

Mason's funny face and "Jo-Jo"

I have no idea why Mason does this face, but it's cute. He also loves saying Jo-Jo (Liz, Keith & Ayden's dog) with little fish lips. So cute!

My baby can walk!

Holy crap, Mason walked for the first time yesterday! I don't know why, but it just looks so funny to see him walk. Or maybe it's just that he's growing up so fast and I don't want to believe it. He gets so proud of himself every time he walks. I love it!

car ramp video

This is life the 3 boys in the house...

Mr. 10th percentile

Mason had his 1-year check-up last week and is just a little peanut. He's 19 lbs, 9 oz, which is in the 5-10th percentile for weight. I was hoping he would surpass the 20 lb mark so we could move to forward facing in his car seat, but we'll wait another month or so and check his weight again. He was ~60% for length. So, as I thought, he'll probably be tall and skinny like his dad! Everything else was right on track. She gave us the go-ahead on whole milk. I still have a freezer full of breastmilk, so we'll be trying whole milk here and there amongst the remaining supply of breastmilk.

Happy Birthday Mason!

I took a vacation day and all 4 of us went to Mall of America, namely Underwater Adventures, for Mason's birthday. Both of the boys were great! Zander and Mana had been to Underwater Adventures about a year ago, right after Mason was born. Neither Mason or I had been, so it was fun. We had lunch at Rainforest Cafe. None of us had been there. The boys enjoyed it - Mason more than Zander. They do 'thunder and lightning' every 30 minutes. Zander didn't care for that. He covered his ears. He asked about every 5 minutes, "Is the thunder and lightning coming soon?" We also stopped at Legoland and the Disney store. Zander wanted to buy everything with Lightning McQueen on it. The tactic of "you should ask for that for your birthday" works every time!

I still cannot believe that Mason is one! When I read him his stories and rocked with him tonight, I starting talking to him about how much I love him and how fast he's growing up. He looked at me and smiled...and I lost it. I got all teary-eyed. We rocked for a long time and I finally put him to bed and came downstairs where Mana and Zander were eating dinner. Mana saw that I was all teary-eyed and told Zander to go give me a hug. Zander came over, climbed on my lap and said, "Mom, are you okay?"

I haven't uploaded photos from Mason's b-day adventure yet, but here's one from last week. One that both boys are looking at the camera...and happy.

Mason's first birthday

Mason's first b-day party was great! I got a Subway sub and made cheesy potatoes. Mom brought fruit and made an awesome salad - just like Tequilaberry's. After lunch, Mason opened presents. Surprisingly, he stayed interested in the present opening the whole time. Ayden and Zander took front row seats right from the beginning. Liz and Mana would tell them to move back and they did. But then, they would creep up right in front again. Towards the end, Mason thought it would be a fun game to hand Uncle Eric (aka "Aki") every piece of wrapping paper he tore off. After gifts it was time for the messy cake. We had been practicing blowing out candles for about a month...actually Mason started it on his own. Whenever he would see a candle, he would blow at it. Never strong enough to put out the flame, but still cute. Anyhow, we thought he would "nail" the 1st b-day candle blowing, but his mini cake with interesting frosting was too much of a distraction to worry about the candle. So, we gave up hope of him blowing out his own candle and let him dive into the cake. He was lovin' every minute of it. After awhile, Zander came in with his fork to sneak a few bites.

Mason being "rolly-polly"

Just one of Mason's cute acts lately...

I will post pictures and/or video from Mason's 1st b-day party a little later. He did great. Loved the cake. Loved the present opening. That's my happy kid!
