B-day party

Sunday was a birthday party for my Uncle Glenn. Zander made me write "How old are you?" in his card. Here's the card Zander and I made. Back to paint swatch cards!

Here are some other pictures from the party....

Mason pointing obsession

Mason's current obsession is pointing at everything!! He especially likes to point at the ceiling fans and lights. He's also been jabbering quite a bit. The words in his repertoire so far are: ma ma, da da, Dan-dah (Zander), hi, jo-jo, light, "I did it" and izzy (Lizzy).

Photo testing

Mana was doing some experimenting with some different lighting. I love when he experiments on the kids. Some of the coolest pictures come from them. I LOVE this one of Zander!

Mason - 10 month photo

We finally did Mason's 10-month photo. The previous monthly photos with the bear are also on the blog... 1-7 months, 8 months and 9 months. As much of a pain it has been to take it every month, it will be cool to have them for comparison.

P.S. Holy crap it's cold. Right now it's -8! High tomorrow is 1 degree!

American Idol has begun!

I can't believe American Idol has begun it's 7th season. For the first couple months, is the "weeding out" phase, but somehow I can't stop watching the horrible singers. I'm not saying that I'm a good singer (b/c I'm NOT), but why wouldn't these people's friends or relatives tell them that they suck. I'm convinced that it's all an act and just for the ratings. Well, here's goes the "less TV watching" :)

about me, from 2007...

1. What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before?
Started a blog in October 2007. I’m obsessed now!

2. What are your New Years Resolutions?
Don’t have any. I haven’t made any for many years.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth in 2007?
Yes, ME!

4. Did anyone close to you die.
Yes, my great-grandma at 100. She lived a great life up until just about a year ago.

5. What countries did you visit?
None

6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?
More sleep!

7. What date(s) in 2007 will remain etched in your memory and why?
March 4, 2007 – birth of Mason! I still can’t believe that I have 2 kids!

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Giving Mason only breastmilk, no formula! My goal is to make it to 1 year with only breastmilk. I have less than 2 months to go. I think I’ll make it.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Not having Zander potty trained. I really wanted to have him trained by 3.5, but it didn’t happen. He still doesn’t understand the physical part of it. I’m embarrassed and disappointed at the same time.

10. Did you suffer any illness or injury?
Just sleep deprivation from staying up until 11 or 12 every night trying to get stuff done – and then waking up at 5:30. (Starting a blog may have also led to this sleep deprivation!)

11. What was the best thing someone bought you?
Marissa and Jason bought me light blue fur-lined crocs! Love ‘em!

12. Where did most of your money go?
Diapers!

13. What did you get really, really excited about?
Taking a class from Jennifer McGuire (scrapbooking celebrity) at ScrapFest 2007. After class, mom and I chit-chatted with her and I had my pic taken with her.

14. What song(s) reminds you of 2007?
Feist 1234

15. Compared to last year are you...
a.) Happier or Sadder? Happier
b.) Thinner or Fatter? Depends when you ask… for the first 2+ months on 2007 (being preggo), I was fatter. And then…. I was still probably fatter than 2006. Ha!
c.) Richer or Poorer? Hard to say. With one more kid to feed, diaper, etc, probably more… although Mana is doing better with his business, so maybe we’re the same.

16. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Done more "family things" with our new little family of 4. It would've been fun to take a vacation (other than Duluth with Mana's family). Hopefully this year!

17. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Watching TV. I hardly watch any as it is, but there's so much to do and TV just gets in the way. I've made a vow to not start watching any new shows. I've kept it up for about 2 years, so hopefully I can keep that up.

18. How did you spend Christmas?
Running around to various places, like we usually do for every holiday!

19. Did you fall in love in 2007.
Yes, with my new little guy, Mason.

20. What was your favorite TV program?
The Office (Scrubs is a close second)

21. What was the best book you read?
Baby 411 (pretty much the only book, if you don’t count scrapbooking idea books. Oh, I guess I did read a few job interviewing and networking books.)

22. What did you do on your birthday and how old were you?
Milestone b-day – 30! Mana threw a party for me.

23. What was your best musical discovery?
BHD – Mana’s band. When they first started playing, they were laughable. Now, they are actually really good. I’ve been pressuring them to do a “gig”. Hopefully soon!

24. What was your favorite film of the year?
Sadly, I haven’t seen any movies in the theater this year. If I did see any movies on DVD, I can’t remember any. Sad, I know.

25. What did you want and get?
A beautiful, happy and smart little baby.

26. What did you want and not get?
Shelving in the garage (made by Mana). A promise he made when we first moved in that is still not done. I would really like to be able to park both cars in the garage.

32. How would you describe your fashion concept for 2007?
Ha! Jeans and long sleeve t-shirts for me! I don’t really call that fashionable. I did buy me some brown Skechers that I just LOVE. They’re kinda trendy, I guess.

27. What kept you sane?
Scrapbooking, dinner/events with my girlfriends

28. Who was the best new person you met?
See #13

29. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned.
Spend as much time with my kids as I can. They grow up WAY to fast.

video test

I'm jealous of Stacy's blog with video clips, so I figured out how to do it. All our home movies are in iMovie which has an 'export to YouTube' option. Slick! And Dad, if you're reading this, don't worry. This stuff is on YouTube, but it's not "public" so nobody can find it in YouTube - only people viewing it from this blog.

April calendar page

I know, I know. This looks more like a March page, not April. You see.... last year Easter was in April, so I created an Easter page for the April month. But then I realized that Easter is in March this year, so I switched.
As previously stated, I will NEVER make a homemade calendar with scrapbook pages again!

Hiphopopotamus vs. Rhymenoceros

Mana showed me this. I guess "Flight of the Conchords" is a TV show - two white guys from New Zealand that break into song (many times rap like this one). Mana and the rest of BHD have been watching it before band practice. This one cracks me up!

Calendar page - January

Boy was I ambitious! I bought a blank calendar to embellish... all the way down to filling in the days. What a mistake! I have spent about 8 nights adhering my rub-on numbers. I'm sure each page of 30/31 days took me longer than making the layout. Oh well. Maybe next year I'll do an iPhoto calendar.

I'm also participating in a free class/challenge that I heard about from a fellow scrapper Lain Ehmann on her ScrapHappy podcast & blog. The challenge is to make 31 layouts a day (LOAD). I didn't join until just now, so I already I didn't meet that goal, but it will still be fun trying to get one done the rest of the month. Heck knows I have plenty to catch up on! Here's my layout for day #7 - first page in my calendar.

Mason's 9 (10) month pictures

You would think with us having all the photo equipment, we would be on top of taking our kids' photos. Ha! Well, here are Mason's 9 month photos taken at 10 months. We also managed to get a couple of the boys together.

Mase & Mana

So cute! We were putting away the holiday decorations and came upon the Santa hat. Mase kept taking it off, but managed to keep it on for one picture.

old photos

ok, maybe not so old. Mana found our old Olympus camera that we used to use before we got our SLR (Nikon D50) and there were still a bunch of pictures on it. Some were pretty old (September '06) and some a little more recent (June '07). The yard (landscaping/garden) shot is our old house and brought a little tear to my eye. I don't know why, but I still get a little sad when I think about our first house. It was the place where Bean grew up - learned to walk and talk. Even though he was 2.5 when we moved, he still remembers it and has brought it up out of the blue, "remember at our old house, we had a swingset?" Things like that make me sad. I miss the cool landscaping and swingset. Well, no going back. And besides, the 4 of us wouldn't fit in that tiny house! The other couple pictures are from summer '07. Not sure why we were using the old Olympus camera, but there they are. I can't believe how little Mase was! I guess he's still a little peanut. He just does so much more now - compared to then sitting in a bouncy chair. I was excited to see that we have a photo of Zander feeding Mason a bottle. I don't ever do the bottle thing when I'm with the boys since Mason gets "on tap", so this made me smile too.

Speaking of Mason doing stuff, he now points his little finger. Yesterday, he did it for the first time. I was holding him in the kitchen and he randomly pointed out the window while looking at his little hand as if he's thinking, "so that's what this thing at the end of my arm can do." So now, I'm always bugging him to point at something... and he does it. And he does it well - his little pointer finger pokes out and then he smiles all proud of himself. My little baby is getting smarter and growing up way too fast!!
