Poor kid - birthday party cancelled AGAIN!

Friday started out crappy when Zander woke up with a 103+ fever. And I can't even say that he "woke up" since he slept most of the day - and his fever kept going up and up. I'll spare the boring and/or gross details, but Friday was one of his sickest moments ever. Around 11am Friday, his temp read 105.6 degrees!! I freaked out! I have never seen either of the boys' fever be that high. And this was several hours after he had taken Tylenol (that mostly stayed down). Our normal clinic could not get us in, so I took him to an urgent care clinic about a mile away from our house - that actually turned out to be a decent place. They found nothing - strep test came back negative, no ear infection. He just had "something viral" - don't they always?! Anyways, when we got home, he just kept sleeping and finally around 5/6pm, he woke up looking like he had just been in the bathtub with his clothes on. The kid was literally dripping with sweat. His hair was wet and gross. I took his temp and it was down to 100. Thank goodness.

Friday afternoon we decided to cancel his birthday party on Saturday - which was already rescheduled from 3 weeks ago when he was also sick. I'm almost afraid to plan another one and jinx him into getting sick again. Poor kid - all he wants to do is celebrate his 4th birthday.

From this experience (and many others previously), I can still say that dealing with sick kids is the worst part of parenting.

Tornado "fame"

I know this is a little late, but thought I would post the news clip from channel 5 where Mana's pictures were used. Actually, Mana made an iMovie. Enjoy!

Maybe Zander DOES need a haircut

Hopefully the only resemblance is the wild shirt and wild hair...

I'm back!

I'm back from my business travels - well, actually I was back on Friday. The National Sales Meeting went very well, just a long time to be away from the family. I took Monday and Tuesday off to 'recover'.... and spent Monday home with a sick little Mason. I think he caught what all the other daycare kids had - runny nose and a fever. Today he was better, so we went to a few parks in Anoka as a family. The kids had fun. Below are some pictures from today. Getting a picture of the two of them both looking at the camera still seems next to impossible!

Bean loves the concept of exploring. He had to bring along his notebook so we could write down all the animals we found. Very cute. He's also very much into making traps right now. Not so much with the park exploration today, but because we have a few chipmunks making their home in our garage, so he thinks that he must trap them. It's cute to see how his brain works.

quick post

I've been so crazy busy at work - long hours prepping for the National Sales Meeting next week. I'm leaving on Sunday morning, back on Friday afternoon. I know Mana will be just fine with the boys. I'm just worried about Mason. He's SUCH a mama's boy and we've never been apart - NEVER. Not even overnight.

Zander is FOUR years old. I still cannot believe it. His birthday party was supposed to be last weekend, but he came down with something the night before, so we had to cancel it. Poor kid. As soon as he got better, he said, "Okay, now we can have my party." I think he understands that we have to plan the party in advance, he was just seeing what we would say.

The boys were in for their check-ups last week. Mason has finally surpassed the 20 pound mark - 21 lbs, 4 oz. Now, we can turn his carseat to forward facing. Zander was 35 pounds.

Two of my girlfirends had babies in the last few weeks. Jen and Brent had a boy - Brody Robert - cool middle name (Mason's middle name) :) . Kim and Brad had a girl - Isla Nicole. I'm so excited to meet them. The baby count has grown to 13 - with one on the way (Jenny & Brian) in October. Holy cow!!

Here are some pictures of the boys at Mana's birthday party a few weeks ago...
